Lyrics To Ponder

This is my first installment of "Lyrics To Ponder" so that I can share with my readers those songs that have touched my heart (or touched something anyway) and that have deep meaning (yeah, right).

Here is the first:

How much did you pay for the chunk of his guitar,
The one he ruthlessly smashed at the end of the show?
And how much will he pay for a brand new guitar,
One which he'll ruthlessly smash at the end of another show?
And how long will the workers keep building him new ones?
As long as their soda cans are red, white, and blue ones.
And how long will the workers keep building him new ones?
As long as their soda cans are red, white, and blue ones.

Government Rant! - Spending package II

Unemployment is now 9.5% across the nation and with the job losses mounting the morons in government are calling for a second stimulus package. The Obamanation has already said that he is considering it, yet he also said "We are out of money". So, just how does he think that he can make a second spending bill when the government is out of money?
I'll tell you how: by ransoming our country's future! We will borrow again and tax people to raise money for another stimulus package that will do the same as the first: nothing.
The government doesn't get it! Stop spending our tax money like drunken sailors, quit taking your extravagant trips all over the world at tax payer expense and stop taxing us to death! Learn a little fiscal responsibility and cut the wasteful spending and pet pork project from both parties!

As you may or may not know, the Lab Monkey is a huge fan of Formula 1 because of it's technical nature. It is the absolute pinnacle of motor sports! When the good-natured Simian heard about a Formula 1 team based in the US, he became very excited! Scott Speed didn't do so hot in his stint for Toro Rosso last year, but not to worry. He is still racing in NASCAR and Danica is still racing for the IRL. To make it official, the FIA has announced all of the teams that will be participating in the 2010 championship and Team USA is included! Fantastic! The Monkey wishes them the best of luck, but they will need a lot of money, technical prowess and stellar driving abilities to beat the likes of F1 powerhouses such as Ferrari, McLaren-Mercedes, Brawn GP, Red Bull, BMW, Toyota and others.
Frankly it is this Monkey's hope that in their first year that they will at least be better than Force India. We shall see...

Freaking Awesome!

Some kids think of a cool iPhone app and because they were never told they could never do something like that they developed it, pitched it to Apple and it has become the number 13 app overnight!
It's educational too!
Maybe there still is hope for the future!

Random Musings: 2012 - The END!

Sammy wrote to me a day or so ago and reminded me of the topic of the end of the world on December 21, 2012. This refers to the Mayan calender that some say predicts this date as the end of the world.

Well, dear reader, my random thoughts on this. I can see several different outcomes:
  1. The world really does end on December 21, 2012. Oh well, we can kiss our butts goodbye. No more asking "What should we have for dinner tonight?"
  2. Mayan scholars can't agree as to why the Mayan calendar ends on this particular date. Some say it must mean the end of the world. Others say that maybe that is as far as the Mayans bothered to go with it. As a slacker myself I'm hoping for the latter.
  3. Many people around the globe will be waiting in anticipation and then nothings happens. They could say "Crap! I thought it would happen for sure! Oh well, now I have to go back to work/school/home/etc..". Hopefully they didn't give all their stuff away.
  4. After a great "to-do" about the day and then nothings happens, it might just happen the day after. It could be a day or so off and then we can say "Wow! We didn't see that coming!"
  5. We could all just not worry about it and finish our preparations for Christmas that year.
That's my thought on the subject. Feel free to add to it.
