Sammy wrote to me a day or so ago and reminded me of the topic of the end of the world on December 21, 2012. This refers to the Mayan calender that some say predicts this date as the end of the world.
Well, dear reader, my random thoughts on this. I can see several different outcomes:
- The world really does end on December 21, 2012. Oh well, we can kiss our butts goodbye. No more asking "What should we have for dinner tonight?"
- Mayan scholars can't agree as to why the Mayan calendar ends on this particular date. Some say it must mean the end of the world. Others say that maybe that is as far as the Mayans bothered to go with it. As a slacker myself I'm hoping for the latter.
- Many people around the globe will be waiting in anticipation and then nothings happens. They could say "Crap! I thought it would happen for sure! Oh well, now I have to go back to work/school/home/etc..". Hopefully they didn't give all their stuff away.
- After a great "to-do" about the day and then nothings happens, it might just happen the day after. It could be a day or so off and then we can say "Wow! We didn't see that coming!"
- We could all just not worry about it and finish our preparations for Christmas that year.
